Wo pehli baar jab hum mile..

I still remember that day when I met you for the first* time..

I woke up before the sunrise which is pretty unusual and cycled to the railway station in gloomy light of the rising sun with the excitement of meeting you for the first time. It took me nearly 15 minutes to search the second class waiting hall (ladies) at a railway station I have been a number of times as I was over excited to see you. You were sitting in a corner on the metal bench in the second class waiting hall (ladies) with your head down, probably lost in thoughts. I remember the exact expression on your face when I saw you for the first time. I actually had expected you to be even happier when u saw me. We were talking at the gate of the waiting hall leaning against the wall for a long time and suddenly uncle said “andar baith jao beta tumlog, khade kyun ho”. We initially had hesitated to sit inside as it was the ladies waiting hall. But we finally sat down inside as the security person at the gate was sleeping. I gave you the dairy milk I had bought last night for you and you asked me to keep one as a return gift. After some time the security person at the waiting door finally woke up and asked me to stand outside as males are not allowed in the ladies waiting hall. We continued talking near the gate on random topics. I also remember we smiling at each other when I stared at a over make-uped girl who was entering the waiting hall. You were continuously scolding me to go back and attend my class and I instead called my friend to put my proxy. Then uncle asked me to take you along and get some breakfast for you. We walked out of the station to look for some nice breakfast for you, finally ending up with a just a Britannia Good day cake for you. And then you fighting with me to return me the 20 bucks I paid for it. We even tried a samosha each at the unhygienic looking samosha corner, and finally getting two more packed for uncle. We then walked back to where we were, yes the waiting hall. I even remember that I gave the packet of samosha to you when we reached in the sight of uncle as I felt it awkward me offering the samoshas to uncle and you just smiled. You opened the pack of Britannia cake and we shared it nicely one slice each one after other requesting each other for the next slice every time. Then when your train was about to come and I picked up your luggage, you pointed me that instead of lifting the heavy suitcase, I could easily drag it instead. And I smiled as I was again lost in the happiness of meeting you and it didn’t even clicked me that it could actually even be dragged. I remember your big smile at me when just after you boarded the train the TTE came and asked me for the ticket and I actually didn’t had the platform ticket and I had told you the same. But thankfully uncle showed him some tickets and the TTE got convinced. I still remember your hand waving to me for bye. Just that I didn’t expect that bye meant we will never meet again.

It was the best morning of my life. I still imagine you whenever I am near that waiting hall or that samosha corner.

  2. Why love stories always have sad endings? May be they make those memories everlasting. Nice recollection of thoughts and vivid memories but it leaves much to be desired. And be optimistic. I hope this does not remain your 'pehli baar' :P Keep writing.
